Ignoring crimes on men — a ticking time bomb

This picture depicts the wrath an innocent man faces when subject to crimes by women. We are seeing an oblivious attitude towards growing crimes on men by women.

• It includes both — Married and Unmarried men. So the hatred doesn’t differentiate the relationship / personal life status of men.
• Crimes are both Physical and Mental.

Let’s look at what’s being brushed under the carpet (The What)

• Men subject to — Physical abuse, Murders, Half-murders by wives. Few examples are listed -

1. Wife pours boiling oil on husband over argument (2021 report) ,

2. Woman stabs husband to death (2021 report),

3. Woman kills husband and hides body at home (2020 report)

4. Woman pours oil on husband since he attempted to stop her from adultery (2016 news report),

• Men subject to Psychological and mental abuse

1. Wives alienating husbands from their children .This is seen very actively with most married couples in the recent years.
2. Mounting mental pressure on husband by having extramarital affair and tormenting the husband with paramour (2017 case of Gurgaon , 2019 case of wife stopping contact with husband after reaching abroad for studies)
3. Financial extortion and cheating — 2021 Cheating case on behest of marriage
4. False rape cases — Latest case of 2021 , 2021 Case of Army man being troubled

NOTE : This is not an exhaustive list in interest of time. There are instances across the globe similar to the ones mentioned above. I have mentioned few from India.

Why this callous attitude against men (The Why)

• Society’s attitude — Women are always victims, Men are always perpetrators. Unfortunately this is grossly wrong.
• Structural inherency — Historical laws were made in favor of only women. But the judiciaries / governments across countries don’t understand that time has changed and have blind-folded themselves from the crimes by women. One-sided laws have resulted in unscrupulous women misuse law as they wish. Even if they are proven guilty of initiating false cases, they are allowed to walk scot free without any punishment.

Abettors (The Who)

• Non-victim men — Those who are not victimized yet , continue to blissfully ignore and take no action while a man is being subject to violence. . Example : 2021 Gwalior incident of man being beaten in public and other men standing and watching the drama (Video link here)
• Feminist NGOs — These are good at the power play of “Victim Card”. Any violence on men is posed as a reaction to violence by men, though its not so in any of the cases mentioned above.
• Law-makers & Law-enforcers — This follows from the structural inherency. Look at the number of laws for women when compared to laws for men. To quote examples of most misused laws against men in India —

1. IPC 498a — for cruelty on women
2. Domestic Violence — Categorically only for women

However these are not the only women appeasement laws . You will find a long list here . In spite of all this, women need more laws. They are masters of power play with “Victim Card”. We will deal with this in a separate article.

So , what now (Call to action)

For society’s attitudinal inherency

• Create awareness of crimes on men :This needs Activism. It needs candle marches, on-street protests and online awareness programs.
• Non victim men speak up : Non-victim men should understand violence on their victim brothers. They should realize they would be unconsciously accepting such violence at home or elsewhere in their relationships.
• Call to Women relatives of Victim men : Women relatives of victim men (Mothers, sisters, Aunt etc.) should shoulder the protest against misuse of women laws. They are seldom spared from misery of misuse of these laws. Example : In the false dowry harassment accusations, not just the husband , but his mother and sister are also victimized — with sole intention to pressurize the husband.

For Structural inherency

• Laws should be made gender neutral — especially the draconian Domestic Violence Act
• Lawmakers should stop misuse of Indian Constitution provision 15/3 (Meant for women welfare) to promote legal terrorism by infringing upon rights of men. Its widely misused now to -

1. Alienate fathers from their own children
2. Extort money from Male partner/Husband’s family in exchange for not filing false cases (Misuse of the “Women Empowerment” laws)
3. Legally provide alimony to a wife who intentionally deserted husband even when there was no fault of husband
4. Getting a NRI husband’s passport blocked on behest of false dowry / domestic violence charges.

• Action on unscrupulous women who make false allegations. The law enforcers must not just let go the women who play the victim card and misuse laws to subject men to cruelty. Punishments to such women should be of the same nature as it would have been for a man if he had committed the crime. Its a matter of equality.

Consequences of changes

Some benefits of above mentioned changes -

• Society’s change in attitude will help men to be free from unwarranted pressure . In the current state, their own parents/siblings, friends expect man to bear — financial & non-financial responsibilities. Non-financial responsibilities include prestige, medical health and what not.
• Non victim men can prevent their own children from being victimized in the near future.
• Action on women perpetrators will discourage misuse of laws. It will result in a huge reduction of false cases in the Court. The Judiciary and society will gain hugely out of this.
• Indian family concept is at the verge of extinction now. Women appeasement laws(“The One way” laws) have resulted in loss of faith in the Judiciary and the Law of the land. There is no equality. Marriage or trusted long-term relationships will soon be a concept of the past. We are progressing towards an animal culture where relationships are just casual / temporary. This can be prevented.
